For over two months, Gaîté Lyrique curators Jérôme Delormas and Vincent Carry entrusted Pedro Winter (Ed Banger) and Morgan Bouvant (ICON) with the 8 floors of this prestigious institution. The mission was to organize and host an event dedicated to the art of skateboarding, offering a unique platform for celebrating this culture, combining performances, urban music, retrospectives and creative expressions.

Stacy Peralta gave his benediction to use the name of one of his skateboard videos for the unique event, Public Domaine, that had revolutionized the image and aesthetics of skateboarding in the late 1980s.

La Gaité Lyrique became a meeting place not only for skateboard enthusiasts, but also for 60,000 curious visitors eager to discover this universe.

The event showcased the universes of artists such as Spike Jonze, Natas, NeckFace Sebastien Carayol, Fred Mortagne, Gilles Delapointe as well as the brands Girl, Etnies and Thrasher (to name a few), offering the public live demos and screenings, and a comprehensive view into skateboarding cultural and community.

Music played a central role in the event as well, with live performances from Dinosaur Junior, Ray Barbee, and Tommy Guerrero, as well as DJ sets from Falcon, Busy P, John Cardiel, and Mix Master Mic (Beastie Boys).

Public Domaine unified, informed and inspired, while establishing skateboarding as a true source of artistic and cultural inspiration for all.

Democratizing skateboarding by making it accessible to a wide audience, while highlighting its values of creativity, freedom and solidarity.
